Integra LifeSciences Donates Over $300,000 Worth of Medical Instruments to Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts
PLAINSBORO, N.J., Feb. 2, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq:IART – News) announced today that it has donated over $300,000 worth of Jarit ® and Miltex ® surgical instruments to Direct Relief International, a non-profit, non-sectarian humanitarian assistance organization, for their relief efforts in Haiti.
Surgical instruments are one of the most critically needed items at this time. These instruments are truly saving lives in Haiti, in everything from allowing basic suturing of lacerations to the life threatening surgical interventions related to trauma,â said Dan Smith, M.A., Direct Reliefâs Senior Program Officer for Latin America.
Direct Relief has supplied over $6 million in specifically requested medical material aid to partners in Haiti responding to the earthquake, and over $50 million since 2000.
