Depuy to host Scoliosis Education Session May 12

DePuy Spine, in partnership with the National Scoliosis Foundation (NSF), is hosting a Scoliosis Education Session on May 12 at the Depuy Institute on Paramount Drive in Raynham.

This free community event is part of DePuy Spine’s ScoliWeek 2010, which aims to raise awareness and educate parents and nurses about Scoliosis diagnosis and treatment.

Scoliosis is a disease of the spine affecting six million people in the United States, mostly children and adolescents.

Featured speakers at next month’s event include Joe O’Brien, Scoliosis patient and president of the National Scoliosis Foundation, who will discuss the mission of the NSF and resources available to families and patients with Scoliosis.

Dr. Pernendu Gupta, spinal surgeon from the University of Chicago, will also be on-hand to present the latest advances in Scoliosis diagnosis and treatment and Barbara Basham, the mother of a child with Scoliosis, will share her family’s experience with their daughter’s illness.

The Scoliosis Education Session is slated to be held at the Depuy Institute, 325 Paramount Drive in Raynham. Welcoming and check-in will take place from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and speakers will take the floor from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
