Warren talks medical device tax with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) tells The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart why she supports repealing the medical device tax – even though she voted against its repeal.

In April 2012, as she battled then-Sen. Scott Brown (R) for the Bay State’s junior seat in the Upper Chamber, Warren wrote an exclusive op-ed for MassDevice.com explaining why she thinks the 2.3 excise tax on U.S. sales of medical devices is a bad idea.

Warren told Stewart last month that her stance hasn’t changed.

“The question on the medical device tax for me – I actually don’t think it’s a good idea to tax manufacturing extra, of any kind, because I think what we’ve got to do is produce more manufacturing jobs in this country. But if we’re going to take that [medical device tax] out, we’ve got to find another place to pay for it, because that’s how it works to keep the budget going,” Warren said.
