The revolutionary new TRI-GEAR™ technology is unlike any other ratcheting mechanism currently offered in the orthopedics instrument market. The patent pending design utilizes three gears with 20 interlocking teeth that allow for both forward and reverse functionality. Using separate gears, each with 20 interlocking teeth, significantly increases the contact area between the teeth of the gears and reduces stress on individual teeth, which provides a more robust design. This enables surgeons to have a greater degree of precision and potentially increases the lifespan of the instrument. The ratcheting instruments currently used in orthopedics all utilize a standard, two-pawl design, with just one or two teeth engaged for each direction.
