Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ), like many insurers nationwide, is reviewing historical claims information from the past two years. This review takes into account the premium increases needed for those with ongoing medical attention, those who have significant health conditions and the increased cost for prescription drugs and medical services. A recent study by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association shows that newly enrolled members’ medical claim expenses are significantly higher per month than prior to the Affordable Car Act (ACA). This increase has impacted not only BCBSAZ, but health insurance companies across the U.S.
