LIMA CORPORATE is pleased to announce the award of 3 new ODEP ratings
San Daniele del Friuli, Udine, Italy – January 3rd , 2017 – Lima Corporate is pleased to announce the award of 3 new ODEP ratings for their hip implants.
Lima Corporate’s strong heritage in hip has now been awarded with updated ratings in the UK for the following products:
10A ODEP Rating – Delta PF Primary Uncemented Acetabular Cup
10A ODEP Rating – Modulus Complex Primary Femoral Stem
5A ODEP Rating – H-Max S Primary Uncemented Femoral Stem
These are to add to the 5A* ODEP rating that Lima Corporate has already received for their Delta TT Primary Uncemented Acetabular Cup and 5A* ODEP rating for the C2 Primary Uncemented Femoral Stem. Ratings are provided at benchmarks of 3, 5, 7 and 10 years of follow-up alongside a “A*”, A or B ratings dependent upon the strength of evidence and the quality of the data provided. Main criteria are the survivorship of the implants, the number of patients and the length of follow-up. Many countries outside the UK now use these ratings to assist in their approval of products into the market place.
The Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel (ODEP) was set up in the UK in 2002 to monitor NICE guidance on primary hip implants and latterly hip resurfacing in 2004. The Panel provides on-going assessment of hip implants to benchmark both hip femoral stems and hip acetabular cups against the NICE guidance, providing a benchmark rating for implant survivorship and data submission quality.
Lima Corporate has been manufacturing medical devices for over 70 years, focused in the hip, knee, extremities and fixation markets globally. Innovation is a key driver for the company who has transformed their business sector with the introduction of 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, to produce their proprietary technology Trabecular Titanium starting 10 years ago. Trabecular Titanium is the core technology used for both standard implants as well as ProMade, the exclusive implant line launched last year.
The Delta PF is an uncemented acetabular cup, it’s hemispherical design utilises ridges and a press-fit for primary fixation, a grit blasted surface alongside a Hydroxyapatite (HA) coating ensure long term fixation. Bearing options for the cup include cross-linked polyethylene, ceramic and dual mobility. The Modulus is a primary hip stem with a focus on dysplastic hip (DDH) cases. The uncemented modular design allows for reliable fixation in the femur with the ability to restore a patients natural biomechanics with the modular necks.
The H-Max S is an uncemented primary hip stem based upon the Corail philosophy and benefits from an optimized HA coating and offset sizes especially in the smaller sizes.
