OrthoGrid Systems Establishes New Orthopedic Technology & Education Center for Intelligence Guided Surgery in Strasbourg, France.

March 12, 2019

OrthoGrid Systems, Inc., a leading innovator in surgical imaging, workflow efficiency and decision-making support in orthopedic surgery, today announced the opening of its new orthopedic technology research and education center in Strasbourg, France. This new subsidiary has been formed to partner with clinicians and healthcare stakeholders to accelerate the development and commercialization of medical innovations that deliver practical improvements to surgical efficiency, accuracy, and cost containment.

“OrthoGrid Systems’ vision is to bring novel solutions to medicine and empower physicians and patients with technologies that make surgery more reproducible and accessible,” explained Richard Boddington, Co-CEO of OrthoGrid Systems. “We call this Intelligence-Guided Surgery™ and view this as a new category that holds the potential to deliver game-changing innovations that dramatically enhance the delivery and quality of care.”

OrthoGrid chose France for its research and education center due to its longstanding history as an incubator of talent and source of significant medical innovations for the world, including implant designs, robotics, and advancements in surgical methods. Strasbourg, a city on the border with Germany, and the Grand-Est region of France have dedicated tremendous resources during the past several years to successfully establish a state-of-the-art medtech ecosystem.

“Our objective goes beyond a purely research-oriented point of view; it has a commercial end-goal that positively impacts the lives of patients on a global scale. Therefore, it has been of paramount importance for our research team to create an environment facilitating an end-to-end approach, from basic science to advanced research to clinical delivery,” noted Josh Cates, Ph.D., Director of Research and Development at OrthoGrid Systems.

“Digital innovation in healthcare is a promising concept, but it requires a pragmatic focus on unmet needs and careful assembly of an integrated solution that will be successfully executed on a commercial basis. I’m excited at the possibilities that this commitment brings to the digital integration of orthopedic procedures and have great confidence in the OrthoGrid team,” explained renowned San Francisco-based orthopedic surgeon and founder of the DOCSF conference, Stefano Bini, MD.
