VGI Medical Brings Manufacturing In-House to Support New Inventory Demands and Reduce Manufacturing Costs

Largo, FL – VGI Medical is dedicated to creating the next generation of spinal implants and procedures to improve the quality of life for its patients. In an effort to further align the clinical and economic buyer, VGI Medical has purchased medical device manufacturing equipment for use at its 16,000 square foot corporate headquarters in Largo, FL. The addition of in-house manufacturing will offer VGI Medical more control and flexibility in its production as sales continue to accelerate.

VGI Medical was founded in 2007 based on an invention developed by Tov Vestgaarden, PhD. It has become a leader in bringing innovation to the market including VerteLoc, CerLoc, SiJoin and VerteLP. The VerteLoc and CerLoc systems are specifically designed to stabilize and fuse the facet joint by utilizing a unique patented dual geometric design to limit motion of the affected spinal segment. Applying the principles of this success, VGI Medical added SiJoin for Sacroiliac Fusion. VerteLP is one of the latest innovations offering an improved implant for lateral procedures featuring its proprietary Talon Technology.

The manufacturer equipment will allow VGI Medical to rapidly respond to the needs of the surgeons. With machining capabilities of the 5-axis CNC machine, VGI Medical will be able to manufacture complex shaped implants and expand R&D efforts.

“By bringing manufacturing in-house, we have complete control over our inventory, allowing us to keep up with inventory demands as we continue to expand upon the sale of our products.  Additionally, this makes us very agile in offering new product lines and will allow us to create a broader product portfolio at a faster pace.” said Tov Vestgaarden, Ph.D, founder and CEO of VGI Medical.
