Music City’s massive health care industry is coming together to fight coronavirus.
The Nashville Health Care Council has formed a COVID-19 Readiness Team aimed at helping its members share information about the flu-like disease.
The team held its first virtual meeting on March 12 with more than 50 attendees, Health Care Council CEO Hayley Hovious said, including representatives from HCA Healthcare Inc. (NYSE: HCA), Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: BKD), Ascension Saint Thomas and LifePoint Health.
Nashville’s $46.7 billion health care industry is home to several of the largest hospital operators in the nation, including HCA, which operates more than 180 hospitals and 2,000 sites of care, such as urgent care centers and freestanding emergency departments. Brookdale, whose residents are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, is the nation’s largest senior-living community operator, with more than 750 facilities in 45 states.
