December 3, 2025 – OrthoSpineNews – In an awards ceremony held in Geneva, Switzerland, the World Economic Forum, the world’s foremost international organization for public-private cooperation, awarded pioneering medical technology company Xenco Medical with its distinguished 2025 New Champions Award for Excellence in Governance and Leadership for Global Challenges. Xenco Medical Founder and CEO Jason Haider accepted the award on behalf of the company at the ceremony held on November 21st. Because of its groundbreaking work in sustaining global health systems, Xenco Medical received the distinguished honor by the World Economic Forum for its instrumental role in one of Kenya’s most ambitious women’s health efforts to date. The pioneering company’s recognition as the winner of the Excellence in Governance and Leadership for Global Challenges Award is tied largely to its leadership in the Afya Dada Project, a profoundly impactful national initiative strengthening breast and cervical cancer care across Kenya.
The World Economic Forum described the initiative fueled by Xenco Medical as a model for government-led, community-centered health system transformation. The program has quickly become a critical component of Kenya’s cancer prevention infrastructure. Xenco Medical’s partnership with the Kenyan Ministry of Health, along with its funding and governance involvement, helped establish the initiative during a period of significant disruption in the country’s health financing landscape. The name of the initiative, The Afya Dada Project, translates to “Health for Sisters” in Swahili. Convened by the Global Alliance for Women’s Health, the Afya Dada Project’s 14-month plan, spanning July 2025 to October 2026, aims to expand early detection, broaden diagnostic capacity, streamline referral systems and train large segments of the country’s cancer care workforce.
The project is built on four pillars: workforce development, early screening and diagnosis, community engagement, and strengthened referral pathways. Thousands of health workers, including nurses, radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, community health assistants and health promoters, are being trained through a cascade model supported by updated national curricula in Kenya. Kenya’s effort to reduce preventable cancer deaths is still unfolding, but the Afya Dada Project fueled by Xenco Medical is already being watched as a blueprint for future partnerships tackling complex global health challenges.
A leader in the medical device industry, Xenco Medical’s breakthrough technologies have heralded a value-based approach to healthcare. In October of this year, Xenco Medical was named the 2025 Medical Device/Diagnostics Company of the Year at the prestigious PM360 Trailblazer Awards in New York City for its groundbreaking biomimetic implants, regenerative biomaterials, and composite polymer surgical instruments integrated with AI-driven technologies. In March of this year, Xenco Medical was named one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company Magazine for the second time, underscoring its sustained leadership in redefining surgical care. Radically optimizing the operational efficiency of healthcare facilities through its streamlined single-use surgical implant systems as well, Xenco Medical’s logistics-optimized surgical devices have significantly decreased surgical turnover times by eliminating the need for the sterilization and reprocessing of implant and instrument systems between surgeries. Inspired by the principles of mechanotransduction and amplifying the impact of its breakthrough portfolio of surgical systems, Xenco Medical’s groundbreaking TrabeculeX Continuum technology has also expanded access to value-based care by synergistically harmonizing the bone-forming potential of regenerative biomaterials with AI-powered post-surgical rehabilitation.
