Coverage Denied!
In the same week that Blue Cross / Blue Shield has issued a press release that they are extending Blue Distinction to over 800 facilities, it has been reported that claims in the New England area are being denied faster than an NBC late night show. Surgeons are cancelling cases and reps are scrambling to help get the patients the necessary treatment.
What have you all heard? Is this systemic or a much larger problem? Why types of cases have you seen denied coverage? Has anyone else heard of BCBS denying coverage anywhere outside of the New England area?

I can't believe that I haven't heard about this before. Can anyone provide details? I work in that area some and haven't heard about denials yet.
Not a big surprise. Those slimy insurance companies will pounce on any chance they can to avoid paying for our services. They can't appreciate the years of training and immense capital expense to obtain a medical degree. They certainly don't care about our patients! Its high time some real healthcare reform happens and you can start with cutting out the middle man/insurance companies!
