NeuroTherm buys Smith & Nephew’s spine pain management line
euroTherm added another asset to its portfolio of pain management products with yet another acquisition, this time of Smith & Nephew plc’s (NYSE:SNN) interventional spine pain management line.
The deal, for an undisclosed amount, brings Smith & Nephew’s CDS discography system, SpineCath and AcuTherm catheters and a full radiofrequency product line under Wilmington, Mass.-based NeuroTherm’s umbrella. The deal also calls for NeuroTherm to distribute Smith & Nephew’s TruCath injection system. Financial terms were not disclosed.
NeuroTherm will absorb the SNN sales team it gets as part of the deal with its own sales force, vice president of international sales Jos Kerstens said in prepared remarks.
It’s the latest rollup for NeuroTherm, which is owned by the Cortec Group, a New York-based private equity firm. NeuroTherm bought Micron Catheter last summer for an undisclosed amount, adding the Palm Beach gardens, Fla.-based company’s epidural scar removal catheter to its holdings. In February, the company acquired Dutch firm Technomed Europe’s intellectual property and manufacturing know-how “associated with certain needle product lines,” its third add-on since itmerged with Cotop International (PDF) in 2007.
