Alphatec Spine Adds New Vice President and General Manager, Latin America
CARLSBAD, Calif., May 5, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) — Alphatec Holdings, Inc.(ATEC 6.21, -0.20, -3.12%), the parent company of Alphatec Spine, Inc., a medical device company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders, with a focus on treating conditions related to the aging spine, announced today that Armin Weichert, who has over 25 years of sales and management experience in the medical device and life sciences industries, has been named the Company’s new Vice President and General Manager, Latin America.
Mr. Weichert, who will be based in Brazil, fills this newly created position to oversee all of Alphatec Spine’s Latin American operations. He will be responsible for directing and overseeing Alphatec Spine’s marketing and sales expansion in Latin America, including efforts to secure experienced spine product distributors that will exclusively sell the Company’s products, as well as building relationships with key medical opinion leaders.
Most recently, Mr. Weichert served as the Division Director in Brazil for Aesculap, AG, a position he held for over 10 years, in which he was responsible for managing all of Aesculap’s operations in Brazil. Mr. Weichert has worked at Aesculap for over 20 years, and has had increasing roles of business development and sales responsibility.
