Stryker Features Tissue-Preservation Hip Arthroscopy Platform, Sponsors Surgeon Education Events at the AAOS Annual Meeting

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Stryker Corporation’s Endoscopy Division today announced plans to exhibit its latest innovations in tissue-preserving hip arthroscopy at the 2011 Annual American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons meeting in San Diego, CA, February 15-19, 2011. The Stryker booth (#1920) will highlight the new Tissue-Preservation Hip Arthroscopy Platform, a comprehensive system of instrumentation and precision devices that play a role in restoring optimal hip biomechanics. Stryker will also host several educational events during the AAOS Annual Meeting, allowing surgeon attendees to learn from peers and gain hands-on experience with these products.

Stryker’s new Hip Arthroscopy Platform is designed to provide optimal joint preservation with minimal complication. Recent advances in the knowledge of and treatment of femoroacetabular impingement have led to the development of minimally invasive techniques to restore the biomechanics of the hip and delay or obviate the need for a total hip replacement. Stryker products focus on innovation and cost-effective approaches to allow patients to return to their active lives, and address a variety of hip complications, including CAM and Pincer impingements and the full range of labral repairs.

Stryker’s Tissue-Preserving Hip Arthroscopy Platform provides a comprehensive solution that includes a high definition IDEAL EYES® visualization platform, a new cannulated access system, SERFAS® XL Ablation Probes, repair instrumentation and FORMULA® XL blades featuring new angled cutter designs. This new instrumentation joins the Orthomap 3D navigation package for CAM FAI and the TwinLoop FLEX labral repair system with a flexible drill and flexible suture anchor insertion handle for angled access to the acetabulum.

Stryker’s presence at the AAOS Annual Meeting will focus on surgeon education and hands-on experience. These educational events include “FAI (Femoroacetabular Impingement) Solutions from Stryker,” a special educational forum designed to discuss treatment options for FAI, on Thursday, February 17th at 2:00pm PST. Dr. Shane Nho, orthopaedic surgeon from Rush University Medical Center and consultant to Stryker, will lead the presentation.
