Salient Surgical Technologies to Provide Comprehensive Clinical Education Programs and Resources for Surgeons
PORTSMOUTH, N.H.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Salient Surgical Technologies, Inc., a privately-held developer and innovator of advanced energy devices for use in surgical procedures, has launched an expanded global medical education program. This initiative is designed to support customers in advancing patient care by providing cutting edge training on advanced surgical techniques and technologies, including usage of Salient’s TRANSCOLLATION® technology.
“The mission of this program is to provide world-class training on best practices where our technology plays a key role in helping our customers achieve these objectives.”
“In today’s healthcare environment, medical device companies and healthcare facilities must be focused on helping clinicians improve patient outcomes and satisfaction while also achieving increased operating efficiency and cost savings,” said Stephen Corder, Medical Education Manager at Salient. “The mission of this program is to provide world-class training on best practices where our technology plays a key role in helping our customers achieve these objectives.”
Salient’s medical education courses will address a variety of procedures in which the company’s TRANSCOLLATION technology can be used to prevent and stop bleeding of soft tissue and bone during surgery and thereby decrease the risk of blood transfusions. Training topics will include:
- The direct anterior approach to hip replacement/arthroplasty
- Knee arthroplasty procedures, including tourniquet-less approaches
- Minimally invasive and deformity spine surgery techniques
- Surgical oncology, including liver, pancreas and kidney procedures
Training sessions will include a broad range of courses and events, including hands-on national and regional seminars and conference-related programs taking place at medical meetings throughout the U.S. and Europe. Several courses will feature live surgery demonstrations. Salient will also extend training to residents and fellows in an effort to provide education and training opportunities to early-career physicians.
“I am pleased to see Salient Surgical make this substantial commitment to medical education,” said Roger Emerson, MD, Medical Director for the Joint Replacement Program at Texas Health Plano. “This type of training is exactly what is needed to enable surgeons to achieve the best outcomes for patients through the use of advanced procedures and technologies.”
