Premia Spine Acquires Assets of Impliant

RAMAT POLEG, Israel, May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Premia Spine, Ltd. announced today that the company acquired Impliant, Ltd. assets, which include 16 worldwide patents. Premia intends to commercially launch the TOPS(TM) System and its adjunct Versalink(TM) Fixation System in third quarter of 2011.

“We are excited about the opportunity to provide patients with a clinically-proven, superior solution to lumbar fusion,” stated Ron Sacher, CEO of Premia Spine. “The TOPS(TM) System has demonstrated its immediate and sustained benefit for patients suffering from moderate to severe spinal stenosis.”

The TOPS(TM) System was developed in 2004 by Impliant Ltd. and over $50 million have been invested in laboratory testing and clinical work to perfect the implant, the instrumentation, and the surgical technique. The TOPS(TM) System aims to revolutionize the spinal implant market in much the same way that total hip and total knee replacement systems displaced hip and knee fusions. Premia Spine’s singular focus today is to provide patients and surgeons with a clinically-proven superior solution to lumbar fusion surgery.

“We have conducted cases for several years with the TOPS(TM) System family of products, including single level and multi-level procedures,” Bart Conix and Robert Hes from Middelheim Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium explained. “We are very pleased with the clinical outcomes and look forward to continued use of the devices.”

Premia Spine is actively seeking distributors for its product line in key countries throughout the world.
