10th Annual Memphis Musculoskeletal New Ventures Conference to be Held October 16-17

2012 marks 10 years of bringing together investors and entrepreneurs from around the world in one of world’s largest gatherings of its kind in the musculoskeletal industry

MEMPHIS, Tennessee, October 2, 2012 – Investors and entrepreneurs from around the world will be in Memphis October 16 and 17, 2012, to attend the Tenth Annual Musculoskeletal New Ventures Conference, which is taking place at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis.  Surgeons, venture capitalists, industry leaders, and researchers gather for this one-of-a-kind opportunity to share information in the fast growing, dynamic and revolutionary field of musculoskeletal research and commercialization.

The Musculoskeletal New Ventures Conference exposes venture capitalists (VCs) to new ideas, new companies and new opportunities.  For 10 years, this conference has promoted dialog and built relationships between funding resources and entrepreneurs, while enabling emerging musculoskeletal companies to promote their ideas to business leaders worldwide.  This year’s event is expected to be attended by dozens of VCs, representing millions of dollars in venture capital under management.  They will hear from more than 20 diverse start-up companies that are developing new and emerging therapies for orthopedics and spine.

“Memphis is respected around the world as a leading community in the medical devices industry,” said Gary Stevenson, Managing Partner and co-founder, MB Venture Partners.  “Successfully holding a conference of this magnitude for 10 consecutive years has not only showcased the research and intellectual property coming out of Memphis, it has demonstrated the city as a potential place to relocate or start a company.  This conference provides a forum for exchanging ideas between surgeons, venture capitalists, industry leaders, researchers and entrepreneurs, which promotes industry growth to the benefit of everyone suffering from musculoskeletal conditions.  We are proud to continue our productive working relationship with the Memphis Bioworks Foundation and all of our sponsors again this year.”

The conference will be held at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis, October 16-17, 2012.  Activities kick off with a Musculoskeletal Mixer at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 15 at the historic Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis.  The cost to attend the two-day conference as an academic/non-profit is $250.  For a business attendee, the cost is $650.

The 10th Annual Musculoskeletal New Ventures Conference is hosted by MB Venture Partners and Memphis Bioworks Foundation.  For more information on the conference or to register, visit www.mnvc.org.
