ENID, Okla. — Integris Bass Baptist Health Center has added the da Vinci Si robotic surgery system.
It is the only robotic surgery program in northwest Oklahoma.
The da Vinci Si has several features designed to provide clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room, many that translate to patient benefits, according to a hospital news release, including:
• Enhanced 3D, high-definition vision of operative field with up to l0 times magnification.
• Visual clarity of tissue and anatomy.
• Surgical dexterity and precision greater than the human hand.
• Updated and simplified user interface to enhance operating room efficiency.
• New ergonomic settings for greater surgeon comfort.
Together, these technological advancements provide surgeons with precision, dexterity and control that enable a minimally invasive approach for many complex surgical procedures.
“Our goal with the investment in robotic surgery is to allow our patients to have the most advanced surgical and medical care available without having to travel to a larger metropolitan area,” said Edward Herrman, Bass president. “We believe the features of the new da Vinci Si system will help us provide the best possible outcomes, and the system is proof of our commitment to provide latest advancements in minimally invasive surgery.”
Benefits of the new system include less post-operative pain than with traditional open surgery; faster return to normal daily activities; less blood loss and less need for blood transfusions; and a shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery.
An open house is set for noon Aug. 13 in the main lobby of the hospital so the public can see the new technology. Once the school year kicks off, the hospital will be calling on area fifth-graders to help in a contest to name the robot. Students can submit their suggestions to the hospital for a chance to win a Hastings gift card.
