Laser Spine Institute Officially Opens Doors to New Cleveland Ambulatory Surgery Center

Laser Spine Institute, the leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, opened the doors today to its new facility in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. The Cleveland region contains more than one million people with neck and back pain, according to the National Institutes ofHealth, The Burden of Musculoskeletal Diseases in the United States. The new center will address this need by providing greater access to minimally invasive spine care procedures throughout the surrounding region.

“We’re excited to be here and serve the Cleveland community,” said Dotty Bollinger, President and Chief Operating Officer, Laser Spine Institute. “Neck and back pain is a major medical problem in the U.S. At some point in time, more than 80 percent of the population will suffer from this condition, and it’s the single largest reason for patient visits to physician offices and hospitals every year. As we were planning to grow our reach to be more accessible for patients, we looked at existing need, and Cleveland rose to the top.”

Laser Spine Institute hired orthopedic spine surgeon, Jeffrey F. Shall, M.D., to perform minimally invasive surgeries at the Cleveland location. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Shall was selected for his commitment to helping patients find relief from neck and back pain through minimally invasive approaches. Dr. Shall is widely recognized for his early adoption of minimally invasive stabilization surgery, a technique he mastered through years of training.

Laser Spine Institute has made more than 30 local hires to date to support the Cleveland opening and expects the total employees hired to near 50 by May 2015. The anticipated incremental economic impact of the new center is more than $37 million to the local community.

The new Cleveland center is the first of three facilities opening in the Midwestern United Statesin the coming months. Together, these facilities will increase the number of U.S. residents residing within a 250-mile radius of a Laser Spine Institute center by 50 percent — and continue Laser Spine Institute’s mission of providing patients with an effective alternative to traditional open back surgery.

The center is located at 300 Allen Bradley Drive, Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
