South Florida biotech companies to pitch investors at state conference

By Marcia Heroux Pounds

From treating disease to healing woods, seven biotech companies from South Florida will seek to impress judges with their products and business plans at BioFlorida’s annual conference Oct. 11 to 13 in Orlando.

The companies are Ichor Vascular in Boca Raton, NeuX Technologies in West Palm Beach, WaveFront Health Technologies in Palm Beach Gardens, NIROS Technologies in Miami, Aegle Therapeutics in Miami, Asana Medical in Miami Lakes and SplicingCodes in Palmetto Bay.

Ichor Vascular is designing a therapy for Acute Limb Ischemia, which occurs when there’s a sudden lack of blood flow to a limb.

NeuX Technologies is developing products that heal musculoskeletal injuries quicker, aid in the prevention of injuries and reduce pain. The products are designed for both the athlete, to perform at an optimal level, and the elderly person, who wants to get out of bed in the morning more easily and without pain, the company says.

WaveFront Health Technologies is the parent company of CorrStat, whose technology is an interactive platform that allows people to share their health and lifestyle data while protecting their privacy. The health data collected is used by researchers studying health-related issues.
