UC San Diego Health, UCI Health Select Phynd as Information Management Platform

UC San Diego Health has selected Phynd Technologies, Inc., located in Dallas, Texas, as its information management platform. Phynd will manage all provider information across the 800-bed hospital and multi-specialty academic health science center.

UC San Diego Health joins UCI Health of Orange County, California, as a Phynd user, expanding the platform’s use across two of the five of UC Health’s academic medical health systems. UC San Diego Health will utilize Phynd to “curate a single, digitized, searchable system containing all employed and external providers and their subspecialties, locations, health plan participation and more, to enhance provider data quality in UC San Diego Health and UCI Health’s shared Epic system and retire their homegrown siloed database system.”

“We have gone live with Phynd because of the depth and breadth of Phynd’s provider and location profiles, as well as its powerful search capability, giving us an enterprise-wide, single source of truth to manage all provider and related information,” said Sri Bharadwaj, Chief Information Security Officer for UCI Health. “The bi-directional integration with Epic will ensure that provider, specialty, location, health plan and other information in Epic is always accurate and up-to-date.”

“We’re pleased to be expanding our UC Health partnership with the addition of UC San Diego,” said Tom White, CEO of Phynd. “We look forward to UC San Diego Health, a leader in numerous medical and surgical specialties, joining the growing number of health systems deploying Phynd to ensure that provider, place and payor information is always up-to-date in their EHR and other mission-critical systems.”

Tom White told OSN, “Phynd improves provider data quality across an entire provider organization. We ensure that both the employed providers and referring providers always have up to date information on websites, call centers, for reg/schedule, billing, and care coordination teams. It’s a single, central source of information that ensures that all systems – EHR, revenue cycle, consumer-facing websites and internal provider directories – have accurate information about each provider’s clinical expertise locations, health plans, networks in which they participate, and hundreds of other key data points.”

Asked how it integrates with Epic, he noted, “The Phynd Provider Enrollment app enables health systems to easily search, review, and enroll new providers directly into their Epic provider directory. It enables health systems to easily search 4.2 million Phynd Provider Profiles and easily find and enroll high quality provider profiles directly into Hyperspace allowing for faster and healthier provider data to be accessible immediately upon the need to add new provider data to your health system.”

“The Phynd Provider Enrollment app is delivered as an HTML-based widget launched directly from within a user’s workflow in Hyperspace. The Provider Enrollment app contains a powerful search capability that enables end users to easily search and find providers based on name, addresses, specialties and other search criteria. Once the end user identifies the appropriate provider in Phynd, they are able to review the Provider Profile, and then directly enroll the provider into their Epic provider directory, in real-time. Phynd Provider Profiles consist of highly curated content from national and state resources, including NPI, state license boards, DEA license data, and verified board certifications.”

“Health systems using Phynd enjoy an improved consumer experience, increased utilization, more efficient patient access, registration, scheduling, reduced claim delays and data administration, and more efficient marketing and management of clinical networks.”

Phynd clients include Yale New Haven Health System, Duke Health, UNC Health Care, University of Michigan, Orlando Healthcare, Kettering Healthcare, UC Irvine Health, and Houston Methodist. Phynd has been deployed by 35 health systems, 300+ hospitals and 20,000+ locations.  Phynd is an Epic App Orchard member. The Phynd 360 Platform is powered by Amazon Web Services.
