Maxx Medical Donates Freedom Total Knee® System to Support Medical Mission Work in Ecuador
Maxx Medical, Pvt. Ltd., a global medical device company, is supporting Dr. Rick Savino, orthopedic surgeon with Long Island Bone and Joint in New York, and Blanca’s House by donating Freedom Total Knee System (“Freedom Knee”) implants and instruments needed to provide 12 total knee replacement surgeries as part of a medical mission in Machala, Ecuador.
Blanca’s House, which provides 21st century medical care to the underprivileged, arranged this medical mission at Hospital Militar in Machala, Ecuador. Dr. Savino will be travelling with approximately 30 medical professionals, who pay their own way and dedicate their time, to bring an entire operating team and all necessary items needed to perform 12 total knee replacement surgeries for some of Ecuador’s most needy residents. Maxx Medical is donating its Freedom Knee implants and surgical instruments for the knee replacement surgeries. The team is leaving on February 15, 2014; this is Dr. Savino’s second medical mission and Blanca’s House’s 25th.
“These trips provide me with the opportunity to perform medical procedures for the reason I went into medicine in the first place — to help those who truly need and appreciate it with no insurance issues, documentation worries or attorneys looking over our shoulders. It’s as simple as people who need medical help and a team dedicated to making them better,” expressed Dr. Savino.
“It feels good to give back to the global patient community, partnering with surgeons and charitable organizations to restore patient mobility,” said Ashesh Shah, CEO, Maxx Medical. Our goal has always been to serve the global medical community with top-tier orthopedic solutions that provide new, highly-effective and affordable options for treating patients suffering from knee pain. Dr. Savino is not just donating his time and services, he is changing the lives of 12 patients, and we’re honored to support him.”
