Live Surgical Webcast: Robotics-Assisted JOURNEY* UNI Knee Utilizing the Navio® Surgical System

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–On Monday, July 27th, 2015 at 7:00PM EDT, Smith & Nephew will host a live surgical webcast featuring the JOURNEY UNI Knee System and Blue Belt Technologies’ Navio Surgical System.

The procedure will be performed at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jimmy Chow, and moderated by Dr. Bertrand Kaper, Orthopedic Surgeon at Orthopaedic Specialists of Central Arizona.

The Navio system represents the latest in robotics-assisted techniques for partial knee replacement procedures, and delivers the precision of robotics through smart, handheld instrumentation. Intra-operative planning software uses soft-tissue kinematics and 3D surface capture to predict joint laxity, enable precise implant positioning, and customize a solution for each patient without requiring a pre-operative CT scan. Paired with the Navio system, JOURNEY UNI procedures can utilize the benefits of the patient-specific planning software and robotic assistance to enable precise implant placement and soft-tissue balance.

JOURNEY UNI is designed to provide a higher level of function, motion, durability and to help patients regain their active lifestyles. The JOURNEY UNI was developed to assist surgeons in obtaining accurate and reproducible results.

Viewers are encouraged to send in their questions, which the surgeon will answer during and after the live webcast.
