A distinguished Air Force surgeon with twenty years of experience, Dr. Rasmussen is now a professor and vicechair for Education in the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During his military career, Dr. Rasmussen completed deployed tours to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world and initiated and led sizable translational research programs for the Department of Defense. His research and innovation have resulted in over three hundred publications, an h-index of more than fifty-five, and more than ten thousand citations. He also co-invented the REBOA catheter, a life-saving device.
